Mint Pearls

Hello all! I adventured into the world of detailing with nail gems today, for the first time ever. I'm pretty excited, even though a tiny part of me is thinking that maybe it's more trouble than it's worth. (Then again, if I ever listened tot hat thought, my nails would be naked all the time!
I'm not sure fi I'd call this mod, but it's something similar.
I used the little Kiss kit of "Nail and Body Gems" That you can get at any CVS or Walgreens, just a silly little $3 deal that I picked up to give it a shot. It comes with a decent selection. little bows in green and blue, pink and purple diamons, loits of silvers, and these lovely little pearls! (If you don't know me, I'm obsessed with anything pearl.) I used Sally Hanson's Mint Sorbet and the white is Finger Paints, but I'm too lazy to go get it to tell you what it's called.
Overall, I think it went pretty well! I did them around 1, it's 9 now and none of them have fallen off yet, even through giving my sister a bath and typing this blog. Mission accomplished.
As a bonus, I did somethign I never ever do- matched my toes.
DO ignore the fact that I took this in between cleaning up my fingers and my toes. Just one pearl on my toes, because I'm afraid that one'll fall off pretty soon, given my strappy sandal tendencies.
Anywho, thanks for stopping by!

Ulta Haul and some new glitter!

Hello loves!
Yesterday I went to Ulta for the first time, and don't you judge me for waiting so long. I probably spent too much money, but it's so glorious in there, and they had such lovely sales! Anyway I now have 154 points on my card, so yay for $3 off my next purchase!
I'll show you all my goodies!

I considered posting individual pictures, but seeing as this post is already far too long, i'll just let you zoom.
I got a little bit of everything, and I'm trying them as fast as I can. Here's my first two looks:
I call this one dinosaur eggs.
The colors are Essie's a cut above, and essence color&go's nude it.

I couldn't wait to do another mani with all my lovely new colors, so I did another one this morning. Very simple, but fun!
Cina glaze's Optical Illusion. It's stunning. I mean, I'm madly in love with it, I just want you to know.
JUST LOOK AT IT.
Also, bonus, I picked up these wonderful little q-tips, and they're absolutely perfect for cleaning up edges.
They're flat on one end, and pointy on the other. Perfecto.
I can't wait to bring you guys some more manis!

Thanks for stopping by!

It's a Twofer!

I know I already posted tonight, but I finished that Tiffany mani I told you about, and I just couldn't resist.
Yay! Ignore my unclean cuticles, please. I took pictures of both hands and completely blanked on the fact that I didn't clean this hand up. However, it came out less shitty than the others.
I used some lovely colors and also a few things I'm ashamed of:
Finger Paints' Tiffany imposter, a pretty generic "glitter dust" that I had left over from my face painting days (I used to be a face painter. If you didn't know. Bonus picture to follow.), and some awful, thick gloopy white Kiss nail art brush.
For the record, I hate nail art pens. But I didn't feel like taping and free handing with a brush wold have been such an epic fail. But the glitter!
This stuff is stunning. AGain, the picture doesn't do it justice, but it's a silver glitter with a little bit of every color in the world. I love it.
Anyway, It turned out about as well as I pictured it, and I'm pleased as punch. :]
BONUS FACEPAINT PICTURE.
P.s, look at my godawful nails. And those highlights.
Oh lord.
Thanks for stopping by :]

Getting used to this and a gradient!

I think it's gonna take a little time for me to get used to posting regularly. Anyway, sorry for the gap, all 93 of my readers, but I'll try and make it worth it! In the time I've been away, I've done a few mani's, but I haven't been ggreat about documenting them: you know, the ones you're not ashamed of but that just aren't worth sharing? Well, I did get at least one good one in there-
A glitter gradient! Yay! I finally manned up and tried the sponge technique, and I think I really prefer it to doing it manually.
So you've seen the tutorials all over the internet, I won't bore you with a step by step. I'll give you just the basics on this one :]
Here are the spongies I used, just the $2 from... target, I think? Or is up&up a kroger brand? Anyway, nothing fancy. You can find them anywhere.
And here's a... very unfortunately blurry shot of my colors: both cheapo sinful colors, in black on black and frenzy.
While I'm using my phone camera and it's impossible to take better than decent pictures, frenzy is stunning. It caught my eye out of a wall of essie and opi, so you know it's something. It's a bright violet and almost sky blue microglitter. Stunning.
And here is the final result!
Ignoring my less than perfect cuticles, I think it came out pretty well!
I'm working on some Tiffany nails as we speak, so I promise a new post soon!

Thanks for stopping by :]

Hello World!

So I've caved, and am starting a blog all about my insane obsession with nail polish. It may seem silly, but I need somewhere to organize my collection of pictures and talk about one of the things that is, for some silly reason, a big part of it. I guess I should begin by telling you about me, and the part of me that has to do with  nails.
This is me.
Sorry for the glamourpuss pose, but that's what you get :] I own roughly 50 bottles of polish, but probably a few more. As of now, they don't have a centralized location, so it's hard to keep track. (Technically, there is a box, but it only holds my lesser used polish, sadly. I'm working on building a rack.) My room mates like to mock me for this. I, uhm, I don't care. I am shamelessly obsessed. Other things you should know:
  • I take my pictures in a silly, well lit location that I will keep secret out of shame. I use my cell, because my other cameras are all film.
  • I like old cameras, and own a few.
  • I pin. Religiously. See?
  • I live with my boy and 3 others, Bonsall, Dan, And Ehrin. I will mention them occasionally, so know who they are.
  • I'm starting nail tech school this summer. Gettin legit.
To start off on a good note, I'll give you my latest mani, an easter inspired polka dot tip. Sort of.
Excuse my sloppy cuticles, I should have cleaned them up before i shot this. Alas!

The base color is OPI's Pink Friday, from the Nicki Minaj line. The dots are done in Sally Hansen's Mint Sorbet and Wet Cement, and in Sinful Colors Rise and Shine. I used my makeshift dotting tool!

Well, thanks for stopping by, hope to see you soon!
